Crawford Plains

Location: Edmonton, AB
Completed: 1983

Designed as a K-6 school for 400 students with the intention to expand to serve students K-8, the school features a series of flexible “schoolhouse” modules that function as self-contained educational elements. These modules are arranged in plan along a central “learning street” with study and educational resource areas between modules. Each classroom module contains a variety of teaching spaces and is characterized by extensive use of mezzanine floor areas. These spaces provide the flexibility needed to meet changing enrollments and to accommodate alternate teaching techniques, thereby stimulating the young, eager minds that they serve.
