Scott Shields Architects (SSA) is a boutique award-winning planning, architecture and design firm, headquartered in Toronto and Los Angeles.
SSA is in the preliminary design and approvals process for a large mixed-use development project in Toronto’s thriving Entertainment District. Located across from the Bell Lightbox, home to the Toronto International Film Festival, and steps from other iconic Toronto buildings – the AGO, Roy Thompson Hall, & Sky dome — the new King Street development will contribute to this increasingly popular neighborhood by providing public art galleries and community amenities for local residents. Set amongst the backdrop of the CN Tower and an array of new local developments, King Street will exist as a delicate tower above the integrated historic facades of Restaurant Row, bringing a newfound revitalization to the block while maintaining its historic charm.
The project was originally submitted in 2013 for rezoning as an office and hotel complex of 42 story. Since then, the owner purchased an additional designated heritage building at 301-303 King Street West to increase the site assembly. The rezoning application was since revised 2018 to 50 story of residential development with ground related restaurants and commercial office space in the podium.
